There are lots of great things happening in and around Colorado Springs.
Here are some of the highlights. Click the pictures for more details.
Several years ago, a small group of patriotic volunteers formed a nonprofit organization to host an annual Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade. Our mission is simple: To honor all veterans and to educate and inspire community awareness while paying tribute to the service and sacrifices all veterans have endured in the pursuit of freedom.
In just this short time, our parade has grown to be one of the biggest and best in the United States. This has only been possible because of the work of hundreds of community volunteers and the generous financial support of the local business community which covers all the parade’s costs.
We have rekindled a great tradition where veterans are enthusiastically cheered as they walk down Tejon Street in Colorado Springs. For that reason, and because we encourage participation by all veterans (including those who are not members of a formal organization), veterans come from all over southern Colorado to participate in the parade.
Visit Old Colorado City’s ArtWalk featuring hundreds of artists for the 9th year along W. Colorado Avenue, the first Friday of April through December. Hundreds of art pieces may be viewed for purchase in dozens of art galleries and studios. Colorado Springs’ largest concentration of galleries is found within three city blocks along West Colorado Avenue, between 23rd and 27th Streets. Visit Arati Artists Gallery, Chavez Gallery, Colorado Creative Co-Op, Cucuru Gallery Café, The Flute Player Gallery, Hunter-Wolff Gallery, The Michael Garman Museum, Kathleen McFadden’s Range Gallery, The Laura Reilly Art Gallery, The Second Floor Studios, The Squash Blossom, Thunder Mountain Trading Co., Visual Culture, 45 Degrees Gallery, 503 West, and more.
The elves have taken over Magic Town and decked it out for the holidays. Michael Garman’s 3,000 square-foot sculptural theater, complete with handmade characters, holograms and special effects, is transformed into a winter wonderland. Tour down alleyways, peek in windows, watch “Its a Wonderful Life” at the Crown Theater and make Christmas in Magic Town part of your holiday tradition.
