Old Colorado City ArtWalk @ Old Colorado City

Visit Old Colorado City’s ArtWalk featuring hundreds of artists for the 11th year on W. Colorado Avenue, the first Friday of April through December. Hundreds of art pieces may be viewed for purchase in dozens of art galleries and studios. Colorado Springs’ largest concentration of galleries is found within three city blocks along West Colorado Avenue, between 23rd and 27th Streets. Visit Arati Artists Gallery, Chavez Gallery, Colorado Creative Co-Op, Cucuru Gallery Café, Hunter-Wolff Gallery, Febra’s, The Laura Reilly Art Gallery, Running Wolf Gallery, The Squash Blossom, Thunder Mountain Trading Co., 45 Degrees Gallery, 503 | W, and other exhibit locations such as Roscos Coffee House. Core Culture Guided Walking Tour @ The Wildgoose Meeting House

Core Culture guided walking tours introduce the historic buildings, significant founders, and contemporary artwork of downtown Colorado Springs.  The hour-long guided tours are held monthly at 10 am on the second Saturday of the month, starting at The Wild Goose Meeting House, 401 N. Tejon Street. Core Culture guided tours are presented by Downtown Colorado Springs, with partners the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum and Wild Goose Meeting House. Support comes in part from Colorado Creative Industries, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Boettcher Foundation as part of downtown’s Creative District programming. 2016 Tours Include: Artistic PLACES: Art on the Streets For 18 years, the annual Art on the Streets program has transformed our downtown streets into an outdoor sculpture gallery. Stops sample the currently installed pieces and offer insight into the artists behind them. (January 9, April 9, July 9, and October 8) Historic FACES: Downtown Bronzes A collection of bronze figurative sculptures dot downtown’s corners and intersections. Learn the stories behind these artworks, the legendary civic founders they represent, and the downtown people and places that helped to shape our modern-day city. (February 13, May 14, August 13, and November 12)Creative SPACES: The Art & Facts of Business Developed and led by Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum staff, this all-new tour introduces downtown’s historic architecture, pairing information about architectural styles with tales of the buildings’ histories and tenants . (March 12, June 11, September 10, and December 10)

National Fossil Day Celebration at Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center @ Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center

Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center will host the 2nd annual event that celebrates fossils and natural history. Attendees are encouraged to bring in their favorite fossils in for information and identification. Learn about local collecting laws. Organized by Garden of the Gods Park and the Western Interior Paleontological Society – additional participants include the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, local Paleontological and Geology clubs, Friends of Garden of the Gods and the Garden of the Gods Foundation. Don’t miss learning more by checking out the new interactive exhibits at the Visitor & Nature Center that feature the fascinating geology, history and flora and fauna of Garden of the Gods Park.
